Body Fat Calculator FAQ
What is body fat percentage?
Body fat percentage is the proportion of fat in your body compared to everything else—muscles, bones, water, and organs. It’s a more accurate indicator of fitness than weight alone.
How does the calculator estimate my body fat?
The calculator uses measurements such as height, weight, age, gender, and body circumferences (like waist, neck, and hips) along with formulas such as the U.S. Navy Method to estimate body fat percentage.
Is this method accurate?
While the calculator provides a solid estimate, it may not be as precise as methods like DEXA scans or hydrostatic weighing. However, it’s a convenient and useful tool for tracking changes over time.
What’s a healthy body fat range?
Healthy ranges vary by age and gender. For most adult males, 10–20% is considered normal; for females, 18–28% is typical. Athletes and active individuals may have lower ranges. Always consult a healthcare provider for personal advice.

Tips for Accuracy
- Take measurements in the morning before eating
- Use a flexible, non-stretchable measuring tape
- For skinfolds, take 2-3 measurements at each site and average them
- Measure in the same location each time for consistency
